Senior Cost Controller

Job Description :

Manage, monitor, and report drilling-related expenditures to ensure alignment with approved project budgets, including AFE, WPB, and FDP requirements.

Support the preparation, review, and revision of annual Work Program & Budget (WPB) and Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) for drilling operations.

Collect, consolidate, and verify budget inputs from relevant technical teams and contract owners.

Support Field Development Plan (FDP) updates through data gathering, validation, and coordination with relevant stakeholders.

Develop cost estimates based on historical performance, contract rates, and cost forecasting models.

Support budget phasing in line with drilling schedules, procurement plans, and operational requirements.

Monitor budget utilization, commitments, actual expenditures, accruals, and Value of Work Done (VOWD).

Prepare and update Estimated at Completion (EAC) forecasts for assigned contracts and activities.

Support expenditure reconciliation and cash call monitoring processes.

Review contract payment terms and monitor contract execution status.

Track Purchase Orders (POs), Call-Offs, Work Orders (WOs), and ensure proper alignment with approved budget codes.

Maintain commitment registers and monitor contractual financial obligations.

Verify monthly invoices and proforma invoices against contracts, work progress, and approved payment conditions.

Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure accurate invoice tracking and timely payment processing.

Support AFE preparation, justification, submission, monitoring, and close-out processes.

Track actual expenditures against approved budgets and identify cost variances.

Prepare cost reports, dashboards, and KPI monitoring reports in coordination with relevant teams.

Provide monthly cost performance reports and support project performance reporting requirements.

Coordinate with Drilling & Completion teams to understand operational activities, scope changes, and actual progress for accurate cost reporting.

Collaborate with SCM, Planning, Finance, and Technical teams to ensure effective cost control throughout project execution.

Support internal audits, partner reviews, and cost verification activities with complete documentation.

Ensure compliance with company procedures, HSE policies, internal regulations, and applicable legal requirements.

Job Requirements :

The successful candidate should possess a strong understanding of logistics operations and supply chain processes, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

University degree is required.

Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

Proven experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, or supply chain operations.

Good knowledge of logistics principles, transportation processes, and supply chain practices.

Sound understanding of Incoterms 2020.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in logistics software and ERP systems.

Experience using SAP Ariba and/or SAP ECC is preferred.

Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Minimum 7 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in project planning, cost control, financial analysis, or related roles.

Experience in:

AFE/WPB cost planning and monitoring.

Contract cost control and commercial monitoring.

Budget preparation, cost tracking, and forecasting.

Invoice verification and accrual processes.

Cost coding and financial reporting.

VOWD (Value of Work Done) monitoring.

Joint Venture (JV) cost allocation procedures.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Advanced Excel skills for financial modeling and data analysis.

Experience with document control systems and cost coding systems.

Familiarity with financial systems such as SAP, ERP systems, or drilling cost management software is highly desirable.

Strong understanding of drilling project cost management processes.

Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.

Proactive, structured, and able to work independently under high pressure.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in a multicultural working environment.
